FAQS

Common customer problems with heating and cooling equipment.

OUTDOOR UNIT HUMS, BUT IT WON'T RUN.

The humming sound is usually indicating that the unit is trying to start but can't. The unit could have a tripped breaker or bad capacitor. We recommend turning the system to the off position and give us a call.

SYSTEM IS BLOWING WARM AIR INSIDE WHEN THERMOSTAT IS SET FOR COOLING.

Check your air filter because it could be dirty. Most houses require the air filter to be cleaned or replaced every 90 days or less. A dirty air filter can cause the system to freeze up on the indoor or evaporator coil. If the filter is clean and you have good airflow, the system could be low on refrigerant. Give us a call to check the temperatures and pressures.

MY ELECTRICAL BILL IS HIGH, AND MY HEATING OR COOLING SYSTEM SEEMS TO RUN ALL THE TIME.

If your system is a heat pump, it probably has an auxiliary or strip heater. This runs only when the heat pump cannot maintain the desired temperature. Check if the outdoor unit is running or if it has ice visible on the coils or copper line set. Call us to check if the system is operating properly.
